Zenoa picea
This *is* a rather cryptic shot (of a very uncommon beetle around those parts!). The punctation loosely arranged in striae on the elytra, the relatively large size of the eye, the oddly protruding mouthparts and particularly the robust tarsi point to Z. picea.

Zenoa picea is almost exclusively collected in July, while the superficially similar though even rarer Cerophytum pulsator is more of a spring beetle (I have two Kansas specimens collected in April).

Unfortunately, that's all I've got -- I couldn't even find any blurry rejects. I guess it must have flown away after the one photo.
