a wasp or a bee?
good question... technically, according to recent studies, this is a member of the wasp family that also includes bees!
anyway, this wasp is in the subtribe Crabronina

Thanks for the quick ID. It is appreciated. Links to the other photos was very interesting, especially the male with the expanded tibia on the forelegs for covering the eyes of the female during mating. Fact is stranger than fiction!
