Dung Beetle? - Canthon chalcites

Dung Beetle? - Canthon chalcites
Eastwood, Carter County, Missouri, USA
June 11, 2006
Size: approximately 1 inch +
I'm pretty sure he's a dung beetle of some kind just because of where I found him: a steaming fresh pile of dog poo. I did a quick search through the guide and found some similar looking beetles, but nothing that really seemed to have this brown color.

Moved
Moved from Tumblebugs.

Genus Canthon
This is one of the Tumblebugs, I don't know the species though.

Thanks Philip
After I knew what genus to look in, I spent a couple of hours on Google trying to narrow it down without any success. So I guess I'll leave it at genus level. Thanks again.

I recognize this beetle!
This dung beetle strongly resembles the species I modeled my 2005 Halloween costume after. Well, I mean my wife's costume. I was the dung ball. Funny how that worked out... :-)
