more images, but from the same angle. So probably won't help. :-(

 
thanks for adding those -- the angle is by no means the same!

Not the
best angle for me. It looks more like a Cyclodinus, and if so then C. californicus by the rather truncate head, but a tentative identification that could be wrong. A species of coastal/saline areas, so if there is an alkali/saline flat not too far away, then maybe.

 
No habitat like that
in eastern Kansas (by Kansas City, MO).
