1160 - Blastobasis

1160 - Blastobasis
Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma, USA
June 14, 2011
Supported as 1160 Blastobasis floridella by DNA barcoding, BOLD LPOKE397-11
This specimen is shown here: BOLD:AAB1097
Found at UV light near pond in wooded area of a flood plain.

Moved to genus
Moved from Blastobasis floridella.

It looks like BIN BOLD:AAB1097 might refer to Blastobasis pulchella or something close to it. The specimens match the description and DNA barcode places it as the nearest BIN to CNCLEP00105947, a paratype of pulchella. I suspect it may be some time before this is resolved.

Not sure
David Adamski identified the specimens in that BIN which includes many northern records but he says now, "... It is very possible that those northern specimens represent other species and not floridella..." As I mentioned in my email to you with his full response, I think it should be moved back to genus unless you have additional information.

not Blastobasis floridella
I don't see how this could be Blastobasis floridella. It looks nothing like the lectotype which I just posted at MPG and it's contradicted by the original description.

Very nice!
Thank you!
