Bizarre caterpillar -
Harrisimemna trisignata
Herndon, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
August 26, 2006
I found this chewing on a lilac leaf. Strangest caterpillar I've ever seen in person - at first I thought it was a cluster of ants on bird poo! Anyone know what it is?

Awesome, thank you!
I've never seen the caterpillar OR the moth here. I'll keep an eye out! =)
