and, just a guess, try genus Rhingia.

Thanks Steve! Yes, I see the "nose", which means it must be Rhingia nasica, the only member of the genus in our area.

 
I agree...
Interesting and small world department: my father was a pharmacologist. And I certainly acquired a a taxonomic bent from him.
