Chionea scita most likely - Chionea scita - female

Chionea scita most likely - Chionea scita - Female
Wilton, Inland Barrens, Saratoga County, New York, USA
December 17, 2012
Five this year, from rain events, to snow/ice/rain (as tonight). This is a female. I have continued my quest to understand these things. This seems to be another Chionea scita based on antenna segment count. No males have appeared yet.

This animal has 12
Antenna segments and keyed out nicely using BYERS- and based on the confirmed C. scita from my yard in previous years. . .I am sure this is that animal. The main use for these new records, is that the animals emerged in RAIN not SNOW due to the unusual climate. Therefore, I thought it might be of value to the Guide in this manner. http://bugguide.net/node/view/471506

I have 3 live animals at this time if anyone would like to confirm with material. Best, K.
