Dryops viennensis (Heer)
Yes, this is
Dryops viennensis
(Heer). I have seen it previously from Restigouche County in New Brunswick, and Webster & DeMerchant (2012) recorded it from there as well as sites in Carleton and Madawaska counties. It is an adventive Palaearctic species and it is interesting to see how it has spread in both Québec and New Brunswick. I suspect that if one looked in appropriate habitats in northeastern Maine one would certainly find it there.
Webster, R.P., and DeMerchant, I. 2012. New Coleoptera records from New Brunswick, Canada: Dryopidae, Elmidae, Psephenidae, and Ptilodactylidae. ZooKeys 179: 67-75.

known from
New Hampshire since 1994, but somehow has been left off of the UNH database that is online. However, the record is on DiscoverLife.

caveat:
i have a creeping suspicion that this may be actually another common European sp., e.g.,
D. luridus
(Er.) -- so you better run the specimen past an expert

Dryops viennensis (Heer)
Accidentally imported from Europe, this species has become established in Quebec and may show up in Maine as well, according to Brown (1972)

. So New Brunswick doesn't seem out of the question. I don't have my literature with me to comment on morphological characters from the photo.

My first
Time seeing this species, so a very cool way to start the day.
Richard, it goes without saying that if you wind up with a series of these critters, several of us (myself included) would love to con specimens out of you!
