Back-yard Rhyssomatus - Rhyssomatus medialis

Back-yard Rhyssomatus - Rhyssomatus medialis
Patagonia, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
Size: 4.0 mm
Collected summer 2012. Rhyssomatus sculpturatus Champion, I believe. Matches specimens in Nogales USDA collection. It is known from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras (1) - not from the U.S. in any publication I could find. Maybe Dr. O'Brien can have a look and let me know what he thinks. I suspect that some of the other unspecified Rhyssomatus sp. from southern AZ belong to this species as well.

Moved from Rhyssomatus.

ID
Rhyssomatus medialis Casey A not rare, but not common southeastern AZ species, of which I have one also from NM and from CA.Excellent photos made it much easier to ID. It is a difficult genus with many new species.

Thanks Charlie!
