Specific epithet from Latin furfuris meaning "scaly, scurfy."

Glena in America north of Mexico.

Forewing length 16-22 mm., the females average larger than males.

The central Texas population are smaller at 13-20 mm.

Forewings light gray to grayish brown with obscure maculation.

New Mexico, western and central Texas to Colorado.
