Ichneumonid from Diastrophus gall - Orthopelma - male

Ichneumonid from Diastrophus gall - Orthopelma - Male
West Forks, Somerset County, Maine, USA
April 26, 2012
Size: 2 mm
Collected a Rubus stem gall on 3/30/2012; on 4/24/12, two ichneumonids, two torymids, and one cynipid emerged.

Moved from Braconid Wasps.
Luckily I haven't sent my braconids anywhere yet. Would you like to take a look at this one?

I just inserted the citation for the revision of the North American species on the Orthopelma Info page. I don't have a copy, and I don't know whether the males are of diagnostic value.

I just requested a copy... any Massachusetts resident can request scans of articles that are in the Five College Depository. Pretty handy. The two specimens that emerged initially were both males, but I got a female on 4/27.

Second recurrent (2m-cu) visible in photo. Presumably a male of Orthopelma. If spiracle of petiole is in front of middle, you should move to Orthopelma.
