Range
Eastern North America; two species introduced in the West.
Food
Host plants Ilex spp. (hollies).
Remarks
All agromyzids in North America mining in holly (Ilex spp.) belong to this species group. Examination of male genitalia is often required for identification of adults. Immatures of most species can be separated based on host plant and mine characteristics, but linear mines in winterberry (I. verticillata) may be the work of any of four species. These species can be separated by examination of puparia, but otherwise the mines may be indistinguishable.
