January Noctuid - Phosphila turbulenta

January Noctuid - Phosphila turbulenta
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
January 1, 2013
Size: 18 mm length
At light on mild evening. I initially thought it would turn out to be a groundling but it probably is not.

Turbulent Phosphila Moth - Hodges #9618
Moved from Moths.
Peter,
I guess I haven't been taking my Phillips Milk of Amnesia as regularly as I often as I should :)

Distinctive & Colorful
Peter,
As distinctive and colorful, this should be an easy ID. I thought Xestra or Acronicta a possibility, but haven't found anything. Hopefully, this at least helps limit your search :)
Robert

Just kidding
This one was the closest I found if I consider 2,500 miles close!

You may be getting closer ...
Not exactly a dead-ringer, but watcha think about Properigea tapeta or the BOLD specimen? maybe the right church, but the wrong pew?

Close or already there
DNA and Simon Pierro aside, how about :) and ?

LOL

Close but not there yet
Yes, tapeta would be a good choice for this area but it has too much white for my taste and light-colored “shoulders” that my moth doesn’t have. I should extract DNA from my photo but need to buy one of Simon Pierro's i-pads for this (there are also English versions of “Simon Pierro”).
On another matter, can you provide a second opinion for this post?
