Malthacus vs. Podabrus
From a strict taxonomic viewpoint the name
Malthacus
Kirby should not yet be used. While it is true that most of the species in Fender's (1949) Groups II-VIII of

Malthacus
(formerly a subgenus of
Podabrus
), however, none of these transfers have formally taken place. As such, calling these species
Malthacus
is still premature.
