Large Yellow Underwing Moth Caterpillar - Noctua pronuba

Large Yellow Underwing Moth Caterpillar - Noctua pronuba
Wildwood Park; Radford, Virginia, USA
January 2, 2013
Is this some kind of moth caterpillar? If so, what kind, please? If not, what is it?
I found it inside an unheated building in a wooded park. Outside temp was about 35 degrees.
