Turtoise Beetle - Anisostena nigrita
Edmundston, Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada
May 30, 2012
Size: 5,1mm
I wonder if this specimen could be something else that Microrhopala excavata, the punctuation on the elytra is finer and very well organise..compare to what is in the guide.

Moved from Microrhopala.

Anisostena nigrita (Olivier)
This is not Microrhopala excavata (Olivier). It is Anisostena nigrita (Olivier). Anisostena has 11 antennomeres, whereas in Microrhopala the outer ones are united giving the appearance of eight. The neat double lines of elytral punctures are characteristic of Anisostena as is the cylindrical appearance of the body, whereas Microrhopala is broader and the elytral punctures are much larger and more irregular is size and placement.
