Hey worse update
Unfortunately my sisters planned her wedding on the 13th. at 5 p.m.. about 2 hours away... so my best suggestion is we can all go to my sisters wedding or ya can go out to dinner that night.. it will do this light sheeting,Friday night and Sunday night... we could always change the weekend to the weekend before or the weekend after... but I'm sure people have already asked for requested for those days off... any and all suggestions are welcomed. again sorry about the poor scheduling

I haven't bought tickets yet,
I haven't bought tickets yet, but I suspect a lot of people have. I'm sure we can amuse ourselves for an evening.

Is it better to fly into Jacksonville or Gainesville?

UPDATE!
Sorry, the wifey has been having a hard time with this pregnancy, There is plenty of room/ we can make plenty of room for who ever needs a place to stay...it might be tight quarters but it will work. I have off that Fri. and Mon. I can make arrangements for someone to pick people up on Thur. and Fir. from the airport...I will have a detailed yet subject to change itinerary, lol done tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear your wife i
I'm sorry to hear your wife is having a hard time.

I've been holding off on buying tickets until I know for sure the weekend isn't changing and have some idea of the itinerary...is there a possibility that might be posted soon?

What's the itinerary for Saturday
I am interested in collecting at least part of the day on Saturday. What is the itinerary for Saturday?

I am almost tempted!
This could be great but being from far away to the north, I need to ask a few questions in order to make my mind. So here it is;

1st: can you qualify this period of the year in your area, in terms of quantity of insects, families (more Carabidae than Cerambicidae I guess). I am mostly interested with Dytiscidae, Curculionidae, Staphylinidae and Carabidae.

2nd: I am a little concerned with netting in humid areas (swamps, lakes, rivers) in respect with the aligators/snakes problem. Is it real? Do I have to worry about it? Will I be able to sample wet habitats, for example, in the Bayard Conservation Area or in Gold Head State Park?

3rd: would it be possible to tent on your property?

I'll start with these, more questions later.
Thank you

Since nobody's responded yet,
I'll give it a shot: 1. In North Florida mid-April normally would be about mid-Spring. This winter's been so warm, though, that it may be more like late Spring. Staphs and weevils are always out and carabids should be moving around. It will be a bit early for many cerambycids, but some are out earlier than that.

2. Snakes and alligators are way over-rated. Why, nobody's been eaten by a gator in weeks now. Seriously, neither is usually a problem but like anywhere in the woods you should always look where you are going to put your foot.

Jamie will have to answer 3.

Thank you for the information Michael.
I am still poundering over all this.It certainly would be interesting to collect in Florida and see the Florida State collection of Arthropods.
More later!

Paul Skelley and I
will be there on Saturday and of course we'll be in the collection Monday.

I will try to come this year
No guarantees, but I'll see what I can do. Really hope I can work it in. :)

We're coming!
Teresa and I are coming. We'll aim to meet at the wings place on Saturday lunchtime. We leave to go back home early Tuesday morning. We're going to stay at the Sleep Inn. Looking forward to an early shot of Spring!

Hi, I am potentially interest
Hi, I am potentially interested (woo, Florida! beetles!). If I were going to fly in, would there likely be people to split a shuttle with and transportation for field-trip-y stuff or do I need to rent a car? Where do people usually stay?

I haven't made plane reservat
I haven't made plane reservations yet, but I'm hoping to fly in afternoon/evening on the 11th and out morningish on the 16th, if the tickets work out. Would anyone be interested in splitting an airport shuttle or equivalent to/from Middleburg?

NO Bruce...
Unfortunately Bruce has informed me that he will be in Oregon for a few months this year, and will miss the Round-Up. …. What this also means is his awesome cooking and his playhouse. Stephanie, all 1200 kids of mine and myself do not mind if anyone wants to stay here with us. We can put the kids in with us that weekend and that gives us two free beds also we have plenty of air mattresses. I have been known to cook some killer hotdogs and hamburgers….I have a few scopes and Wi-Fi.

As you know, I will be coming!
prob Fri aftenoon-Mon tho--need to bank vacation time.

and don't forget to add hot wings at Ronnie's to the list of activities :)
