"Adaleres humeralis Casey The locality fits too." [Dr. O'Brien]
Dr. O'Brien identified this weevil as Adaleres humeralis Casey.

This is a new species for BugGuide.
Could a new page be created for it ?

i've been wrong before, but am pretty sure it's in this tribe...
...that has any number of genera in California...
will ask Dr O'Brien

Moved from ID Request.

You have been right before many times, =V= !!
Thanks for your expert feedback & placement, and thanks for asking Dr. O'Brien !!
I look forward to solving this urban mystery.

I did some digging in the mean time and found 42 species in 9 genera in California.
The largest (# spp.) genus being Dyslobus, which doesn't seem to match.
A couple of genera have only one CA species and are in BugGuide, and ... don't match.
This leaves:
* Adaleres, which seems to resemble somewhat, has 3 CA spp., of which 2 in BG (that don't match).
* Crocidema californica
* Dirotognathus sordidus
* Miloderes, with 3 CA spp.
* Panscopus, with 9 CA spp., of which 2 in BG (that don't match).
* Paracimbocera, with 3 spp.
* or a new adventive sp. ...

If we can eliminate some of these genera/spp., I'll gladly dig deeper.
