Ogdonconta sexta, Hodges 9722? - Ogdoconta altura

Ogdonconta sexta, Hodges 9722? - Ogdoconta altura
Camp Wood, Edwards County, Texas, USA
August 31, 2012
Is this Ogdonconta sexta?

Moved
Moved from Ogdoconta sexta.

Per Steve Nanz's comment I have reviewed my BOLD results and none of the barcoded Ogdoconta's have been O. sexta, so I assume that I have only one species here. I will not place any as O. sexta unless I can dissect one that matches Poole's.

The other photograph referred to here is not mine, but Maury Heiman's.

Ogdoconta altura?
Ann's BOLD ID BIOUG26825-F06, identified by Don LaFontaine, seems very similar. I'm adding it to MPG as altura:

Ann - I don't see BIOUG26825-F06 at BugGuide so you might want to add it there as well. Your current image is warn and lower quality.

BIOUG26825-F06 is placed in BIN BOLD:AAH5330 which includes the 11 barcoded samples identified as altura and the only barcoded sample of sexta. Some of the altura look good based on Poole and some are not obvious to me. I'm guessing that barcode cannot be used to separate these two species.

I agree that this does seem to match Poole's description of sexta better and will add this to MPG as that species but would like to know if you still agree. I will also add your photo 561714 but would appreciate if you could take another look.
