It's a tough call, but
I've pretty much convinced myself that this is L. medius. Both the proportions and the coloring seem to fit that species best.

Moved from Uhler's Water Bug.

Looks like L. medius,
which apparently occurs as far east as Houston. I'm trying to learn how to tell them apart now.
