Red oak leaf tip galls

Red oak leaf tip galls
Upper Jay, Essex County, New York, USA
June 3, 2012
Size: 6 mm
On Quercus rubra. I've never seen this type of gall before or since, and I only found these two, on one small tree. One ended up being eaten by a caterpillar that appeared in the bag, and a eulophid emerged from the other.
