Size: ~15mm wide, ~30-35mm tall
At least seven galls at the end of this twig; many of the tips of the leaves have broken off of most of these galls by this time of year.

Moved from Unidentified Galls.
It's hard to tell from a photo whether most of the leaves are "conspicuously longer than wide" or "almost as wide as long." How big would you say an individual gall is?

Size
Added size; I would say these were at the larger end size-wise; many were closer to 1cm wide, 1.5cm long.
The solution may be to go back next year and photograph fresher leaves before all of the tips have broken off and hope for something more definitive...
