Syrphidae with hefty hind leg - Syritta pipiens

Syrphidae with hefty hind leg - Syritta pipiens
6 miles NW Lyons, CO, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
September 15, 2010
Size: Bl~ 6.5 mm or so
I am submitting 3 images of this syrphid bee. It has a wasplike waist. The flower it is visiting is Eriogonum brevicaule in the Buckwheat family.
The photos scan about 6 days, although I suspect all three visits were the same fly. I never saw more than one, and it showed up about the same time each day. By showing the images together, I can include dorsal, lateral and face views. Any help with its identification is much appreciated.
