Catops simplex Say
In this photograph one can clearly see that the 8th antennomere is symmetrical making this Catops simplex Say. In Catops basilaris Say, also a common species in this region with a brownish elytra that becomes darker apically, the 8th antennomere is strongly reduced on one side, almost to a point, making it clearly wedge-shaped.

Seen side-by-side, the elytra of C. basilaris is "shinier" whereas that of C. simplex has a more "matte" quality, but this is a character that is hard to quantify, whereas the difference in shapes of the 8th antennomere are very clear and unequivocal.
