Wasp and Spider - Tachypompilus ferrugineus

Wasp and Spider - Tachypompilus ferrugineus
Gray County, Kansas, USA
August 30, 2006
Size: w1.5/2" s2+"
I believe the wasp to be Tachypompilus Ferrugineus, the spider I'm unsure of. I thought Wolf at first, but didn't seem to be. Sorry for the crappy pic. The wasp was carrying the spider up the side of my house. The wasp is 1.5" to 2" long and the Spider was a good 2" plus with the body roughtly the size of a big man's thumb.

You basically got three choices...
Lycosid, Pisaurid, or a new prey record. Despite spider wasps being "my group" I'm surprisingly poor at spider identification (you'd think I'd know the prey of my favorite group a little better), so hopefully someone else can help you out on the spider. Also, I'd say yes to this being T. ferrugineus.

Too
bad... that was a great spider.
Wolf is correct, probably Hogna or Geolycosa.
