Subgenus Melanophthalma
Distinguished from subgenus Cortilena, which has only 2 antennal club segments (vs 3-segmented antennal club in Melanophthalma).
Also, the pubescence is longer and more conspicuous in sg Melanophthalma.
Apparently both sexes of Melanophthalma have 6 visible abdominal sternites, whereas the males of Cortilena have the 6th sternite concealed (small 6th segment is visible in the females).


I'll add some notes to the subgenus pages and migrate some of the photos, where possible.
