Pine needle mimic?
Was it on/under a conifer? Some green species with pale stripes are trying to mimic needles.

Actually, this cat was indeed under a large pine tree within a small collection (grove) of pines. I believe they were long-leaf pines. Does that give us any further clues as to ID? Thanks.
