Nitidulidae, dorsal - Carpophilus brachypterus

Nitidulidae, dorsal - Carpophilus brachypterus
Ames - Tullamore, Story County, Iowa, USA
March 28, 2007
Size: 3- mm
Late winter or early spring the Amorphophallus konjac tubers bloom. For some they are too stinky to remain in the house. If the weather is at all decent outdoors, they are put out and the flies and beetles come.
This also looks to be one of the little beetles I find on Paw paw flowers, Asimina triloba, in the spring.
