Valenzuela micanopi (Mockford) 1965 - Valenzuela micanopi - Male
Palmeto State Park, Gonzales County, Texas, USA
January 24, 2013
Size: 3.0 mm
I encountered this lovely creaure while searching the palmetto stands at Palmetto State Park. Mockford identified it and says that this is a new record for Texas. It prefers dead leaves of Sabal minor. Two distinguishing traits are the postclypeal striations and the swollen front tibia in males.
