4" Praying Mantis Having Eggs for Lunch Today ? - Stagmomantis carolina - Female
Orlando, Florida, USA, Orange County, Florida, USA
January 28, 2013
Size: +/- 4"
Greetings, I've noticed this Praying Mantis a few times at my home, but, didn't think much of it until I realized it was always going back to the same spot. Upon observing the location today I noticed it's head beside many small reddish eggs. Does anyone know if this is it's eggs or possibly enjoying another insects' eggs for lunch?

Stagmomantis carolina
Female.

Moved from ID Request.
The mantis should get identified here. I left the egg image in ID request.

These are not mantid eggs,
praying mantids lay there eggs in a "case" or an ootheca, rather. Check this one out

Unfortunately, I cannot identify whose eggs those actually are, it is a tough angle. Maybe an expert can help further.

EDIT: These might be coreid eggs, actually

Mantid Eggs
Greetings and thanks for the comment. I've just posted a close-up of the eggs. They seem to be undisturbed so I guess I just caught the mantis in that pose.
