I'm thinking....
Hogna baltimoriana, but I'm not certain either. A shot of the underside would be great. You can safely photograph the underside of a spider by closing them in a ziplock bag and taking the picture through the plastic.

i like your choice best,i have collected baltimoriana in northern US ;had no idea it occurs in southern US.

need a ventral shot, Hogna antelucana is another possibility

Sorry....the spider showed no inclination to roll over...so I only got shots from the top and front. Thanks for helping. I, too, think it's probably a hogna antelucana after looking at other pics.

This looks like a Carolina Wolf Spider (Hogna Carolinensis). They are found in more places than just the Carolinas though!
