brownish-orange beetle - top - Harpalus indianus
Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada
August 30, 2006
Size: 8-10 mm
Came to light; reminds me of Geopinus incrassatus but at 8-10 mm is only half to two-thirds the size listed for that species (15 mm) at Ground Beetles of Canada.

Do they get this small? Or could this be something else in the tribe Harpalini perhaps? Only 7 of the 28 Ontario species of Harpalus, for example, are pictured at the Ground Beetles of Canada site.

Harpalus, probably
Hi Robin!

the pale colour should exclude most species. Check for in genera Harpalus and Anisodactylus.

cheers, Boris
