Litter moth? - Zanclognatha pedipilalis

Litter moth? - Zanclognatha pedipilalis
Heritage Valley, Allamakee County, Iowa, USA
June 20, 2009
Came to black lights at camp during bioblitz. Think is Z. pedipilalis - Grayish Zanclognatha? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Moved
Moved from Zanclognatha.

Tentative ID. This is too worn to get a positive ID. It is possible that it is Z. obscuripennis or Z. cruralis (the two cannot be separated using photos) but I did look at BOLD and think Z. pedipilalis is a better match.

Thanks!
Thanks!

Moved from Litter Moths.

You might check out Hodges # 8348. I think yours looks like it with the PM line worn off. Not an ID.

Agree
That is what it looks like. Do you move it or can I?

I really don't have an answer to your question.

Any submitter can choose to move his submission.

As for my position on this subject, I am a very new Contributing Editor trying to help without overstepping my bounds and expertise.

I have no formal training but thought that I could recognize similar patterns enough to make the moves I did. I have NO experience with this moth.

I would prefer that you mark your records as you see fit and leave the positioning as is until an expert has time to review my efforts. This move at least allows others to see that this moth has been submitted from your area. That is better than the position you had before.

Thanks
