Lamiine - Atimia confusa

Lamiine - Atimia confusa
Shaver Lake, Fresno County, California, USA
August 14, 2012
Size: 9 mm
Came to a light at night.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

I've taken the liberty of placing the photo to species. The third antennal segment is distinctly more than twice as long as the second and the elytral apices are obliquely truncate. If you're into subspecies, this would be A. confusa dorsalis, the first photo for the guide as all the other photos (at present) represent the nominate (and eastern) form. This taxon has become very familiar to me of late as I have several pieces of incense cedar which have been spitting out specimens at an alarming rate.

Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your help!

Hopefully we can get an ID
...likely a new species for the guide

Looks like
Atimia to me. Are you sure it's a lamiine?

No...
You must have the right ID. The color and shape of the head looked like it to me but I am not an expert on Bycids by any means. Diverse group...

Brady--
you're certainly a mind-reader... or it's that quantum thingy at work
your comment is verbatim what i was thinking, i swear.

Great minds think alike...
and apparently so do ours!

hmmm... looks familiar but i can't find it
the bycid guys will tell offhand, i'm sure
