ID Request; Eupeodes - Eupeodes volucris - Female
Berry Springs Park, Williamson County, Texas, USA
February 13, 2013
Size: 8mm
Am I correct that the scutellum? points to Eupeodes volucris instead of Scaeva pyrastri ?
If so, is it out of known range and time of year ?

Eupeodes volucris
After more seaching I've found one here on the Guide also from Williamson Co. from 2007 and one on-line from Travis Co. from Dec 2012.
Any way to add Texas to the reported range on the info page ?

Good call, Eric. Your ID is solid, and this one's female.
If you haven't seen Martin's comparison sheet, I think you'll find it interesting.

BugGuide currently has submissions...
...from eight states (and one Canadian province) not listed on the Info page. If we're fortunate, one of the syrphid experts will update the range description at some point. As things stand, however, range information on BG should always be considered incomplete, and taken with a grain of salt. :)
