Surprised that you make no mention of size!
This looks like Archilestes grandis, and you should have been blown away by how huge it was for a damsel. (unless we're completely off base :) !! )

Joggin' my memory
I shot this a year ago, before I got seriously interested in insect photography. Looking back - and looking at the photo more closely - yeah, it is a biggie. This insect was in an area where you had to watch where you stepped lest you tramp on a damsel, so there was a lot to look at.

Hope I see one again, now that I know what it is. Thanks to both!
