Moved from Nocloa nanata.

Comments crossed
Hi Anne, maybe our messages crossed? Or the BG pages & comments aren’t updating properly. This image shows for me under Nocloa nanata but Comments show it was moved it out of Nocloa nanata. Regardless, I think Kevin Keegan knows his stiriines well, and especially Nocloa species. This looks like a good fit for N. nanata to me - I would vote to place (keep) it there.

I am out of this one. I just moved it. I have never seen one. I will NOT frass.

Moved
Moved from Azenia edentata. If nothing else the markings that still exist seem to match. Keep or frass?

Nocloa nanata
I don’t think it should be frassed. It seems to me that N. nanata often looks “worn” - it’s not a heavily marked moth.

I think this might actually b
I think this might actually be Nocloa nanata. Nocloines (and not stiriines) have extremely stubby prothoracic tibial and tarsal segments, with the tarsal segments generally being as long as they are wide (http://nearctica.com/moths/noctuid/psaphida/nocloa/nocloini.htm). The thicker body of this specimen also indicates it might be a Nocloa and not an Azenia

Thanks
Kevin: I'm under the weather for a while right now, but I'll attend to this when I'm feeling up to it. Thanks again for the info.

Nocloa nanata?
It appears this still needs review :)

Hi Sue,

Glad to hear from you again.

I think we should just move it back to Owlets. It is so worn that I don't think we should place it at all or Frass it.

What do you think?

Placement
It seems to look out of place here. Let's move it and see if the markings match better. Then decide, keep or frass.

.
Thank you. Great ideas. I will move it.

But it looks like one of the Azenia's to me. Maybe a worn Azenia edentata, Hodges #9726? They are in your area.

Looks like
you got it! I checked another of the genus that occurs here, A. implora and edentata looks like a closer match - thanx!

Hope you didn't take my suggestion as an ID. I am not qualified to give and ID. Glad you agreed with my opinion.
