Differential Grasshopper
Melanoplus differentialis, the Differential Grasshopper. Definitely a male. Very distinct herringbone pattern on the hind femur. Nice photo

On another topic, is it tough to ID juveniles? I have a ton of these. Reason? My granddaughter's school mascot is The Mighty Hopper.
