hairy Syrphid fly - Epistrophe grossulariae - Male
Dixville, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
August 29, 2006

Thanks Ron
It sure looks right, and here's another one I took earlier not too far from this one.

My pleasure, Tom.
Nice flies!

Epistrophe, possibly E. grossulariae?
A calculated guess. What do you think?

(Note mottled stripes and their color on both specimens.)
