ID
Buchananius striatus (LeConte) Common in old growth Beech-Magnolia forest litter, when sifted and berlesed. The second common species is B. sulcatus (LeConte) which is found in Red Oak and oak-maple forest litter sifted and berlesed. Rare in collections in part due to their small size, 1-2 mm.

This doesn't sound like it will help but the manager of this property says: "Near the bottom of the slope are black walnut, cottonwood and elm. At the top there is a lot of bur oak from what I recall. On the slope (and at the top too) there is Paper Birch in addition to the cedars."

I will
when I find it again. It may be in a box I loaned out to get some ID's on hoppers from the same site. Sorry, I know I should have waited until I took the dorsal photo but ... it was just so cute. I do have a ventral photo but I'm not sure that would help.
