Fuzzy Fly - Pantarbes

Fuzzy Fly - Pantarbes
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Clark County, Nevada, USA
This photo was given to me by a coworker, and unfortunately I do not have a date of observation. Thanks in advance for any information.

Moved from Bee Flies.

Pantarbes sp.

Quite like a Lordotus in need of a shave.

Moved from ID Request.

Bee fly
This is a bee fly, probably near Lordotus. Larvae are parasites of underground insects (e.g. ground-nesting bees).
