Explanation of Names
Collops Erichson 1840
45 spp. in our area, 70 total (67 in NA + 3 in S. America)(1); 16 in CA(2)
Antennae appear 10-segmented because antennomere 2 is very small and hidden; males basal antennomeres often modified:

Several undescribed species are known from California and deserts of the southwest(1). Genus is apparently in need of taxonomic revision. A key to some species appears in Fall (1912), a few additional species are described or discussed in Marshall(1951).
