Rare Purseweb in SW Wisconsin - Sphodros niger

Rare Purseweb in SW Wisconsin - Sphodros niger
Richland Center, Richland County, Wisconsin, USA
May 26, 2012
I rarely get spiders in the house so was surprised to see this unknown one on the pine siding in the living room. I submitted the photo to www.spiders.us and it was identified as a purseweb spider. A few of the respondents urged me to register it on Bug Guide as there weren't any in Wisconsin. Our home is in a rural area and I've never seen a spider like this before.

You're welcome! Sorry it took
You're welcome! Sorry it took so long, but there was simply too many other things going on.

Sphodros niger?
Looks like a purseweb spider to me as well. Spiders of Wisconsin lists one: Sphodros niger.

Let's see what others think.

Looks close enough to be right to me.
