Size: ~1.5 cm in diameter
I found this hanging among a small bunch of dead leaves, the cocoon was attached with silk.

Could it be . . Bolas spider egg sac ?
I googled images . . . and a few of them looked very close. See what you think.

 
I think you are right!
The closest match I found just browsing pictures was Mastophora phrynosoma. I had never heard of Bolas spiders before, very cool/bizarre.

 
The only reason I know this spider . . .
Back in 2009 - I luckily discovered a Mastophora on a dew-covered lilac leaf in Loudonivlle, Ohio.
And you're right - they are very cool :)

just a suggestion
im not sure what you have there..but dont bring it in the warmth of the house..instead keep it safe at outside temp that way it will hatch at the correct time and find a mate...
