6mm flea beetle - Altica

6mm flea beetle - Altica
Organ Mountains foothills, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA
August 13, 2006
Size: 6 mm
I collected several of these by beating Fallugia paradoxa "Apache Plume" brush into my net. They are quite large for a flea beetle, which, together with a known host plant, might aid in IDing them.

Thanks for genus det., Ed.
:-)

Kuschelina lugens if the last
Kuschelina lugens if the last tarsal segment is swollen. Can't quite tell from the second or third photo.

I can't either
and the vouchers are all at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Also I'm afraid the Harvard MCZ images don't help me much. They were the only ones I could find on the Web. According to the Biota System of New Mexico that species is widely distributed, including the south-central region of the state where this was collected.
