Why emmilta?
I've recently been studying images and the literature on this group. From Franclemont's 1986 paper(1), emmilta was documented at that time in Texas only in the Trans-Pecos (Brewster, Culberson, and Jeff Davis cos.). Among the confusing southwestern Matigramma's, only rubrosuffusa was documented as far east as the Edwards Plateau by Franclemont, although a BOLD record of inopinata in OK might suggest it could occur outside of the Trans-Pecos as well. Franclemont's analysis suggested that all three of these are difficult to distinguish except by genitalia. If you see something definitive in this or other images, I'd enjoy learning more about this group.

Hello Chuck,

I am sure you wanted to hear from Maury, but since he has not replied, here was what I noticed when posting the photograph. I compared it to Randy Hardy's photo on MPG. As far as I can tell the M. emmilta's often have that white spot in the center of the median line. That is why I chose to post this photograph instead of others in my files. See also 10BBLEP-01017 at Bold. I too am trying to study this difficult Genus - I certainly see a lot of them. I have sent some specimens to Bold this fall and hope to have more information from them.

I look forward to your further contributions on this genus (and all else!).
