burrowing bee, fly or wasp - Nomada

burrowing bee, fly or wasp - Nomada
Fort Worth TX US, Tarrant County, Texas, USA
March 14, 2013
Size: 3/4"
These bees, flies or wasps (and their burrows) are all over my neighbor's yard and she's talking about killing them. The tunnels are about 4" deep. What are they?

and if it is Nomada
then it is sneaking into someone else's burrow. So maybe you have some nice Andrena or something making their nests and the Nomada are the kleptos. We have Andrena in our backyard and they have never been any problem.

Makes me think of Nomada

With luck, the experts will be able to say for sure. In any event, it's not a cause for concern.
