Same species or sex difference? - Selonodon abnormis

Same species or sex difference? - Selonodon abnormis
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
June 8, 2010
Size: ~10.5mm
House light at night. I've only seen one or two that look like this.

Moved
Moved from Selonodon.

Selonodon abnormis (Werner)
Almost certainly this species based on the color, although the head is tilted forward and the tubercles on the frons are not visible. I just collected a huge series of the dead ringer for this in northern AZ.

color varies
Note that per Galley's comments in her 1999 revision of the genus, the color varies from "usually" pale testaceous to dark brown. She saw 55 males; all of the perhaps 200-300 we took at lights were bicolored with testaceous elytra (dark along posterior margin) and dark pronotum. There may be more going on in this group, but the frons, antennae and genitalia match Galley's figures and key.
