Sawfly Larva - Diprion similis

Sawfly Larva - Diprion similis
Chassell, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
August 30, 2012
I found this sawfly larva underneath a Queen Anne's Lace next to my driveway. It had a striking pattern to it.
There is a White Pine and maple growing nearby. We live in a boreal area. The picture was taken at 3:00 p.m.
and the location is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake Superior.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Diprionidae
ok for Diprion similis, the introduced pine sawfly. Must be "lost"; it must have come from the white pine.
